What is a fire hydrant system?
A fire hydrant system is a fixed fire fighting network of pipes, pumps, valves and hose reels that provides a reliable high-pressure water supply for manual fire fighting. Unlike sprinklers which are automatic, a hydrant system is operated by trained personnel — fire fighters or your in-house fire team — who connect hoses to landing valves or hose reels and direct water at the fire.
Under the National Building Code (NBC) and MP Fire Prevention Act, fire hydrant systems are mandatory for factories, warehouses, hospitals, hotels, high-rise buildings and large commercial premises. A properly installed and commissioned hydrant system with IS 3844 and IS 15105 compliance is required for Fire NOC in most industrial and large commercial building categories in Madhya Pradesh.
Types of fire hydrant systems we install in Bhopal
Internal hydrant system
Installed inside buildings — rising mains with landing valves on each floor, hose reels, hose boxes and branch pipes. Used in hospitals, hotels, offices, schools and all multi-storey buildings. Firefighters connect hoses to landing valves on each floor for direct attack. Mandatory under NBC for buildings above a certain height.a
External hydrant system
Installed around the perimeter of a building or campus — underground ring main with external hydrant posts at regular intervals. Used in factories, warehouses, industrial campuses, power plants and large commercial complexes. Provides water points for fire brigade access from outside the building.
Yard hydrant system
Hydrant posts installed across open yards and large industrial sites — refineries, power plants, warehouses and logistics parks. Provides fire fighting coverage across large areas where internal hydrants alone are insufficient. Designed to IS 3844 with coverage radius calculations for every hydrant point.
Combined internal and external systems
Large premises — hospitals, power plants, industrial complexes — require both internal and external hydrant systems working from a common pump room. We design and install complete combined systems with duty-standby pump sets, diesel backup, overhead tanks, underground sumps and full ring mains.

Our fire hydrant system installation process
Site survey
Our engineer visits your premises in Bhopal or anywhere across MP. We assess the building layout, plot size, existing water supply, sump and tank capacity, and fire risk. We recommend the correct system type — internal, external, yard or combined — and give you a clear cost estimate.
Supply of equipment
All equipment is sourced from authorised IS-certified suppliers — Kartar, HD Fire, New Age, Aag and Balaji Fire Safety for hydrant equipment; Zoloto, Leader and Sant for valves and fittings. Only equipment accepted by the MP Fire Department.
Testing and commissioning
Complete hydrostatic pressure test of the pipe network. Pump performance test — flow rate, pressure and motor current verified. Alarm activation tested. Every result documented and signed off.
Hydraulic design
We prepare a complete hydraulic design — pipe network layout, hydrant point locations, flow and pressure calculations, pump selection, sump and overhead tank sizing — all as per IS 3844, IS 15105 and NBC. Design drawings submitted to Fire Department for NOC if required.
Installation
Our certified team handles underground pipe laying, pump room installation, rising main, landing valves, hose reels, hose boxes and external hydrant posts. Civil coordination for sump and tank construction managed by our team.
Handover and documentation
Commissioning certificate, hydraulic calculation report, as-built drawings, equipment manuals and test records — everything needed for Fire NOC application and future AMC.

How much does fire hydrant system installation cost in Bhopal?
The cost depends on building size, system type (internal, external or combined), number of floors, pump requirements and sump capacity. A basic internal hydrant system for a small commercial building starts from approximately ₹1,50,000–₹3,00,000. Large industrial or PSU projects are quoted after a detailed site survey. Contact Fire Protection System for a free site visit and itemised quotation.
Is fire hydrant system mandatory in Madhya Pradesh?
Yes — under the National Building Code and MP Fire Prevention Act, fire hydrant systems are mandatory for factories, warehouses, hospitals, hotels, high-rise buildings and large commercial premises above a certain floor area or occupancy. A commissioning certificate is required for Fire NOC in most industrial and large building categories.
What is the difference between internal and external fire hydrant systems?
An internal hydrant system has rising mains with landing valves on each floor inside the building — for firefighting from within. An external hydrant system has underground ring mains with hydrant posts around the building perimeter — for firefighting from outside and for fire brigade access. Large premises typically need both, working from a common pump room.
Do you provide AMC for fire hydrant systems in Bhopal?
Yes — Fire Protection System provides Annual Maintenance Contracts for hydrant systems across Bhopal and all of MP. AMC includes annual inspection, pump performance test, valve servicing, pressure testing, hose reel inspection and service certificate — required to maintain your Fire NOC validity.
