What is a fire sprinkler system?

A fire sprinkler system is an active fire suppression system that automatically detects heat and discharges water directly over a fire — controlling or extinguishing it before it spreads. Unlike a fire alarm that only alerts, a sprinkler system fights the fire. Each sprinkler head operates independently — only the head nearest the fire activates, not the entire system.

Under the National Building Code (NBC) and MP Fire Prevention Act, automatic fire sprinkler systems are mandatory for hospitals, hotels above a certain height, warehouses, malls, multiplexes and high-rise buildings. A properly designed and commissioned sprinkler system is also a key requirement for Fire NOC in many building categories.

Types of fire sprinkler systems we design and install in Bhopal

  • Wet pipe sprinkler systems

The most common type — pipes are permanently filled with water under pressure. When a sprinkler head is activated by heat, water discharges immediately. Best suited for hospitals, hotels, offices, schools and residential buildings where freezing temperatures are not a concern. Fast response, simple design, lowest maintenance cost.

  • Dry pipe sprinkler systems

Pipes are filled with pressurised air or nitrogen — water enters only when a sprinkler head activates and the air pressure drops. Used in cold storage facilities, unheated warehouses and locations where pipe freezing is a risk. Common in large warehouses and industrial cold chain facilities in MP.

  • Deluge sprinkler systems

All sprinkler heads are open — when the deluge valve activates, water is released simultaneously from every head in the zone. Used in high-hazard areas such as transformer rooms, aircraft hangars, chemical storage, paint shops and fuel handling areas. Provides maximum flood discharge for fast-spreading fires.

  • Pre-action sprinkler systems

A two-step system — a fire detection signal must trigger before water is allowed into the pipes, and then a sprinkler head must activate to discharge. Used in data centres, server rooms, museums, archival storage and any area where accidental water discharge would cause severe damage. Highest level of protection against false activation.

Our fire sprinkler system installation process

01. Site survey

02. Hydraulic design

03. Supply of equipment

Our engineer visits your premises anywhere in Bhopal or across MP. We assess building layout, occupancy type, hazard classification and any existing fire systems. We advise on the right sprinkler system type and give you a clear cost estimate.

We prepare a full hydraulic design — sprinkler head placement, pipe sizing, water supply calculation, pump selection and layout drawings — all as per NBC, IS 15105 and TAC guidelines. Design drawings are submitted to the Fire Department as part of your NOC application if required.

All equipment — sprinkler heads, pipes, valves, pump sets — is sourced from authorised distributors of IS-certified brands. We supply only equipment accepted by the MP Fire Department for NOC compliance.

04. Installation

05. Testing and commissioning

06. Handover and documentation

Our certified team handles all pipe fabrication, installation, hangers, supports and valve assembly. We work with minimum disruption to your operations — scheduling heavy civil work during off-hours where required.

Complete hydrostatic pressure test of the pipe network. Flow test, alarm test, trip test of all valves and verification of pump performance. Every test is documented. System commissioned only when all tests pass.

You receive commissioning certificate, hydraulic calculation report, as-built drawings, equipment manuals and test records — everything required for your Fire NOC application and future AMC records.

How much does fire sprinkler system installation cost in Bhopal?

The cost depends on building size, hazard classification, system type and pump requirements. A light hazard wet pipe system for a small building starts from approximately ₹80,000–₹1,50,000 + GST Large warehouse or hospital systems are significantly higher. Contact Fire Protection System for a free site survey and itemised quotation — we do not give estimates without seeing the building.

Is fire sprinkler system mandatory in Madhya Pradesh?

Yes — under the National Building Code and MP Fire Prevention Act, automatic sprinkler systems are mandatory for hospitals, hotels above a certain height, malls, multiplexes, warehouses above a certain floor area and high-rise buildings. A sprinkler commissioning certificate is required for Fire NOC in many building categories.

What is the difference between wet pipe and deluge sprinkler systems?

A wet pipe system has water in the pipes at all times — individual heads activate when heat from a fire melts the heat element. A deluge system has open heads — all heads in a zone discharge simultaneously when a heat or smoke detector triggers the deluge valve. Wet pipe is used in most buildings. Deluge is used in high-hazard areas like transformer rooms, chemical stores and paint shops.
