Fire Brigade Inlets and Hydrant Fittings in Bhopal

A fire brigade inlet, also called a breeching inlet or Siamese connection, lets fire service pumps feed water from outside into a building's riser or sprinkler system, and fittings such as breechings, draw off connections and riser shaft doors complete the hydrant installation. Fire Protection System supplies these from Kartar Valves, New Age, Ceasefire, Minimax, Savemax, Aaag and Balaji Fire Safety in Bhopal and across Madhya Pradesh.

How to choose

Choose the number of inlets from the size of the building and the number of risers. Savemax lists its two way inlet for smaller buildings, residential towers and commercial blocks with one riser, and its four way inlet for large buildings, hospitals, malls and industrial complexes, where the fire brigade may pump from several tankers at once into a single or dual riser outlet. Kartar Valves, New Age, Minimax, Aaag and Balaji Fire Safety offer 2, 3 and 4 way inlets, and Aaag also makes single dry riser inlets and a horizontal 4 way pattern. The outlet grows with the number of inlets: Aaag uses a 100 NB base flange on 2 way and 150 NB on 3 and 4 way inlets, and New Age a 4 inch outlet on 2 way and 6 inch on 3 and 4 way.

Next check the connections, valves and standard. The Minimax, Aaag and Balaji Fire Safety inlets are 63 mm connections, male instantaneous on Minimax and Aaag (to IS:903 on the Minimax breaching head), and Kartar Valves, New Age, Minimax and Aaag fit a non return or check valve behind each inlet, so water pumped into one inlet cannot flow back out through an unused one. Kartar Valves offers its inlets with or without a 20 mm gate valve, Savemax lists IS 904 with BIS/ISI marking and CPWD approval, and New Age rates its inlet breechings at 10 bar working and 23 bar test pressure. The inlet is fixed on the facade or boundary wall where a fire tender can reach it.

Then choose the body material. Cast iron bodies come from New Age, Aaag and Balaji Fire Safety, gunmetal from Kartar Valves, New Age and Aaag, SS 304 or stainless steel from Kartar Valves and Aaag, and aluminium alloy from New Age; Aaag's cast iron inlets still use gunmetal non return valves. Balaji Fire Safety also lists a brass and bronze 2 way inlet valve and a gold coated 4 way inlet valve that it lists as non ISI.

For hose lines in the field, collecting breechings join two or more lines into one and dividing breechings split one line into several: Aaag makes them to IS 905 in 63 mm, with controlled dividing breechings to IS 5131 Type A or of ball design, and New Age offers them in 2.5, 3 or 4 inch with instantaneous, Storz, GOST, NST rocker lug or BSRT connections. Minimax adds a gunmetal draw off connection with a 100 mm inlet and 80 mm flanged outlet, tested at 21 kgf/sq.cm for 150 seconds, Savemax a fire rated wet riser shaft door, and Ceasefire the CF 3000, a self contained watermist unit with its own water storage and pressure container for sites without a ready supply.

Frequently asked questions

What is a fire brigade inlet?
It is an external inlet connection, fixed on the facade or boundary wall, through which the fire brigade pumps water from its tanker into the building's riser or sprinkler system. Savemax also calls it a Siamese connection, New Age and Aaag a breeching inlet, and Minimax a collecting breaching head.
Do I need a 2 way, 3 way or 4 way fire brigade inlet?
Savemax suggests a two way inlet for smaller buildings with one riser and a four way inlet for large buildings, hospitals, malls and industrial complexes, where several tankers may pump at once. Kartar Valves, New Age, Minimax, Aaag and Balaji Fire Safety also offer a 3 way version, and FPS can advise based on your hydrant design.
Why does a breeching inlet have check valves?
Kartar Valves, New Age, Minimax and Aaag fit a non return or check valve behind each inlet. It stops water pumped into one inlet from flowing back out through an inlet that is not connected.
What is the difference between a breeching inlet and a collecting or dividing breeching?
A breeching inlet is fixed to the building and feeds the riser, while collecting and dividing breechings are hose fittings: a collecting breeching joins two or more hose lines into one, and a dividing breeching splits one line into two or more. Aaag makes both to IS 905, and New Age offers controlled versions with valves on the lines.
What is a wet riser shaft door?
It is a fire rated access door fitted to the wet riser shaft at each floor, giving access to the riser pipe and valves while keeping the fire compartment of the shaft intact. Savemax makes it to standard fire shaft dimensions.
Does FPS install fire brigade inlets, and how do I get a price?
FPS supplies, installs and maintains fire brigade inlets and hydrant fittings in Bhopal and across MP. Prices are on request: call or WhatsApp +91 92440 89060.
