First check the listing your specification asks for. Every model here is UL Listed. The gate valves, swing check valves and tamper switch butterfly valves are also FM Approved, the H44X2 swing check valve also carries LPCB approval, and the XD371X and XD381X butterfly valves also carry VdS approval. The DH77X double door check valve and the V4 and V8 Y-type strainers are UL Listed. Quote the certificate reference, such as EX 15973 or EX 29403, in your valve schedule.
Then pick the valve type for the duty. For isolation, choose a resilient seated gate valve: the OS&Y (outside screw and yoke) XZ41X and XZ81X have a rising stem that shows open or shut at a glance, the non rising stem Z45XC and Z85X are compact, and the Z45XC-2 adds a post flange for an indicator post. The XD371XL, XD371X and XD381X butterfly valves carry a tamper switch, so the fire alarm panel can supervise sprinkler and hydrant control valves. For non return duty on fire pump and hydrant lines, use the H44X2 or H84X swing check valve or the compact DH77X double door wafer check, and fit a V4 or V8 Y-type strainer to trap debris before it reaches pumps and valves.
Match the ends to your pipework. Flanged models are made to BS EN 1092-2:1997, and grooved models have ends to ISO 6182 for pipework joined with grooved couplings. The DH77X wafer check suits flanges to BS EN 1092 PN10/PN16, AS 2129 and BS 10 Table D/E, and the butterfly valves fit BS EN 1092-2 PN10/PN16, ASME B16.1 CL125, ASME B16.5 CL 150 and JIS B2210 10K flanges. The gate, check and strainer bodies are ductile iron EN-GJS-450-10, and every model is rated PN16.
Finally confirm the size. The flanged Z45XC, XZ41X and V4 are listed from 50 mm up to 600 mm, the Z45XC-2 from 100 mm to 400 mm, the DH77X from 50 mm to 400 mm, and the grooved models, the H44X2 and the butterfly valves from 50 mm to 300 mm.
