Start with what can burn. Water extinguishers are for Class A fires in ordinary solids such as wood, paper, fabric and rubber. AFFF (aqueous film forming foam) covers Class A and Class B fires and is the choice wherever flammable liquids such as petrol, diesel, paint and oils are stored or handled, because the foam blankets the liquid, cuts off oxygen and prevents re-ignition.
Decide between portable and trolley units. The 9 litre water and foam extinguishers are carried by hand to the fire in godowns, garages and stores. For refineries, fuel depots, oil storage farms and airport aprons, the 25 and 45 litre foam trolleys carry more agent, and the 45 litre gives a longer discharge for large area liquid fires.
Choose the trolley mechanism. Gas cartridge trolleys are actuated by a gas cartridge, which Savemax recommends for outdoor and remote installations. CO2 based trolleys use CO2 pressure stored in the cylinder and work in a simple two step operation, suited to trained response teams.
All six Savemax water and foam models listed here are BIS/ISI marked and CPWD approved. FPS supplies, installs, refills and services them in Bhopal and across Madhya Pradesh.
