How to choose

AFFF (aqueous film forming foam) concentrate is mixed with water in a foam system or foam equipment to lay a film over burning liquid and control its vapours. The percentage is the mixing ratio: a 3% concentrate is used at 3 parts of concentrate to 97 parts of water. Balaji's AFFF is sold in 20 litre packs for foam systems and is listed for hydrocarbon fuels.

If your project calls for ISI marked foam, choose Balaji's ISI marked AFFF 3% concentrate, which Balaji states is tested to IS 4989 and supplied with its ISI licence (CML) number. Balaji's other 3% AFFF listings do not show ISI, and one of them is marked non UL. A 1% AFFF listing is also offered; because that listing also shows 9 litre extinguisher details, we confirm with Balaji whether you are getting the concentrate or a filled extinguisher.

ABC dry powder is the multi purpose agent used in ABC extinguishers, mainly monoammonium phosphate (MAP). Balaji supplies it in 25 kg bags as a pale yellow powder, with the MAP content listed as 10% or 15% depending on the listing, including a grade for trolley extinguishers. Most listings show ISI, but one shows its certification as No, so tell us if you need ISI powder for refilling.
