How to choose
Start with the coupling standard used on your site. In India, fire hoses usually use instantaneous couplings to BS 336 and IS 903, which push together and release with a latch. Storz couplings are symmetrical, so two halves of the same size join without male and female ends; Russian GOST couplings are also unisex; and American rocker lug couplings are threaded. New Age makes all four in gunmetal or aluminium alloy, and its instantaneous and suction couplings in stainless steel as well.
Match the pressure. New Age's instantaneous and suction couplings have a 10 bar working pressure and a 23 bar test pressure, the instantaneous, Storz, GOST and threaded adaptors a 10 bar working pressure and 25 bar hydrotest, and the Storz coupling a maximum working pressure of 16 bar.
