How to choose
For air release on mains, match the valve to the job. A single orifice valve bleeds small pockets of air from a main under pressure, while a double orifice kinetic air valve adds a large opening that moves air while a main fills or drains. Kartar Valves makes both to IS 14845: screwed single orifice valves (K543, K544, Type S1 and S2, 15 mm to 50 mm) and flanged double orifice kinetic valves (K541, K542, Type DK, 40 mm to 200 mm) with rubber or SS floats. It also offers ductile iron PN 1.6 valves such as the tamper proof compact K542.C, the triple action K549 and the compact K550, and the K-945 and K-946 from its fire fighting list in PN 16, plain or with an isolation ball valve. Fit air valves at the high points of hydrant mains and water pipework, where trapped air collects.
For dry risers and small lines, Aaag offers air release valves in gunmetal (G152) or stainless steel (SS152), made to bleed air from a dry riser, with a 25 mm male BSP or NPT inlet and a test pressure of 21 bar.
