How to choose
A first aid hose reel keeps a hose connected to the water supply, ready to run out and use. The swing manual reel (M256S) and the swing automatic reel (256SA) each hold 30 m of ¾, 1 or 1½ inch rubber or PVC braided hose and have a 1 inch male BSP inlet. On the automatic reel a built in valve opens as the reel turns, giving full flow within two turns. For larger plants and warehouses the heavy duty horizontal reel (M257) takes 30, 40 or 50 m of hose, with a manual or automatic valve, and can be mounted on a wall or on the ground.
The hose reel foam station (S258) is a self contained foam unit in SS 304 with a 200 or 230 litres foam tank, 15 m of 1½ inch rubber braided hose and a 1½ inch flanged inlet. It needs only water flow to work and is meant for fires or spills of flammable liquids in plants and warehouses.
Hose boxes keep the hose and nozzle beside the hydrant. Single boxes (450 x 600 x 250 mm) hold one 63 mm, 15 m hose and one nozzle; double boxes (750 x 600 x 250 mm, or 900 x 600 x 250 mm in steel) hold two hoses and two nozzles. Choose 18 SWG CRCA (cold rolled) steel sheet with red powder coating, surface or recess mounted or on legs, or FRP (fibre reinforced plastic), surface mounted. The polypropylene hose box has an acrylic front that can be broken in an emergency, a lockable option and wall or stand mounting.
Extinguisher boxes (M253 in CRCA steel or stainless steel, F253 in FRP) hold one portable extinguisher: a 9 or 10 kg DCP or a 4.5 or 5 kg CO2 unit.
