Aaag Spray Nozzles models

How to choose

These are open, directional nozzles for deluge and water spray systems. High velocity nozzles (291BB in brass, 291BS in stainless steel) are used both to cool surfaces and to put fires out, typically on special hazards such as oil filled transformers, switchgear, chemical process equipment, conveyors and flammable liquid stores. They work up to 12 bar, with metric K factors of 18, 22, 26 or 32 and spray angles of 75°, 80°, 90° or 100°.

Medium velocity nozzles (291AB in brass, 291AS in stainless steel) are meant for exposure protection: keeping protected equipment cool and limiting structural damage and the spread of fire to it. They work up to 10 bar, with K factors from 22 to 102 and spray angles from 60° to 120°.

Water curtain nozzles (291CB in brass, 291CS in stainless steel) give a flat, semicircular curtain of water. Mounted pendent they act as window spray nozzles; mounted horizontally with the flow towards the ground they form a curtain that separates the area on fire. They work up to 10 bar, with K factors from 23 to 72.

The K factor links flow to pressure: a higher K factor passes more water at the same pressure, so it is set by the system design. All six nozzles have a ½ inch BSPT or NPT connection and a natural or chrome plated finish; choose brass or stainless steel as your specification requires.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between high and medium velocity spray nozzles?
High velocity nozzles are used to cool and to extinguish fires on special hazards such as transformers and switchgear, up to 12 bar. Medium velocity nozzles are used for exposure protection, keeping nearby equipment cool, up to 10 bar.
What does the K factor of a spray nozzle mean?
It relates the nozzle's flow to the water pressure; a higher K factor gives more flow at the same pressure. Aaag lists metric K factors from 18 to 102 across its range.
Where are water curtain nozzles used?
Mounted pendent, they spray windows and openings; mounted horizontally with the flow towards the ground, they form a flat curtain that separates the area on fire.
Brass or stainless steel: which should I choose?
Each Aaag spray nozzle type is made in both brass and stainless steel with the same K factors and connections. Follow the material in your approved specification, and ask us if you are unsure.
