An ECS system protects the inside of an electrical or electronic cabinet. A heat detection tube is laid inside the panel and connected to a small cylinder of FK-5-1-12, a non-toxic and odourless clean agent, so the protection sits right where a cabinet fire would start.
Honeywell offers two types. The Direct Low Pressure (DLP) kits are the ECS-250/252, ECS-500/502 and ECS-1000/1002, holding 1.13 kg, 2.27 kg and 4.54 kg of agent and rated for -17.8 °C to 54.4 °C. The In-Direct Low Pressure (ILP) kits are the ECS-300ILP, ECS-700ILP and ECS-1400ILP, pre-engineered automatic systems holding 3 lbs (1.36 kg), 7 lbs (3.18 kg) and 14 lbs (6.35 kg), with the cylinder pre-pressurised to 240 psi (16.5 bar). Pre-engineered means the system comes as a ready kit with its main accessories. FPS can help you choose the type and size for your cabinet.
A DLP kit includes the cylinder valve assembly, an end of line (EOL) adapter with gauge, 4 rubber grommets, 25 plastic loop clamps and a mounting bracket. On site, the cylinder is fixed with the bracket, the heat detection tube is run inside the panel using the grommets and clamps, the tube is pressurised with dry nitrogen through the filling adapter and connected to the cylinder valve, and the EOL adapter is fitted at the far end of the tube. The gauge stays outside the panel so the pressure can be checked at a glance, and the ball valve is turned ON to finish commissioning.
FPS supplies, installs, commissions and maintains Honeywell ECS systems in Bhopal and across Madhya Pradesh.
