A voice alarm controller links the fire alarm system to the building's loudspeakers. When the fire panel signals an alarm, the controller plays recorded alert or evacuation messages to the right zones and pauses low priority audio such as background music. These controllers also handle everyday public address (PA) work such as paging and scheduled announcements, which is why the systems are called PAVA.
For smaller and mid-sized buildings: Evacpro-G2 is a single unit for up to 16 loudspeaker circuits (zones), with 16 emergency inputs and stored emergency messages. Intevio is built around the HCU-2000 controller, whose built-in 500 W Class-D amplifier lets it work as an 8-zone PAVA system on its own, and it grows with the HEX-8 and HEX-24 zone expanders. The RAAGA 4 HN-MEVAC and HN-SEVAC are 16 speaker circuit controllers in a 19 inch 2U chassis, with configurations from 16 to 256 zones.
For large and networked projects, X-618 and Variodyn D1 link their units over Ethernet. In X-618, the X-DCS2000 is the basic unit, with an 8 channel power matrix, automatic volume control and fault diagnosis; the X-NRI/EN adds 32 dry contact inputs for fire alarm integration, the HN-RTR connects ordinary analog amplifiers, and X-SMART software manages the system centrally. In Variodyn D1, the DOM4-8 and DOM4-24 digital output modules are the central control units, the UIM adds audio interfaces and 48 control contacts, the SCU records and stores announcements, and D1 PAMMI software runs the system from a Windows computer.
The DOM4 modules list IEC 60849 and the SCU lists EN 60849, standards for sound systems used for emergency purposes. FPS supplies, installs, programs and maintains Honeywell PAVA systems in Bhopal and across Madhya Pradesh.
