How to choose
Start with the extinguisher you already have. Stands and brackets are sold by extinguisher weight, so a 6 kg ABC powder unit needs a 6 kg size. Kanex floor stands cover 2 kg, 4 kg, 6 kg and 9 kg, vehicle brackets cover 1 kg, 2 kg, 4 kg and 6 kg, and boxes are made for 4 kg, 6 kg, 9 kg and CO2 extinguishers.
Next decide indoor or outdoor. Inside a clean office or corridor a plain floor stand is enough. Outdoors, in dusty sheds, near washdown areas or where the unit may be knocked, use a polypropylene box or cabinet, which shields the extinguisher from dust, water and impact. A box stand lets you place that box in an open area where there is no suitable wall.
For material, MS (mild steel) stands with a black powder coat suit most indoor areas. SS (stainless steel) suits damp, coastal or chemical areas and food plants where rust is a concern. Kanex floor stands are available in MS flat and pipe or SS flat and pipe, per item code.
For vehicles, always use a proper bracket rather than a loose extinguisher in the boot. The Kanex bracket is pressed from 2 mm MS sheet and is built to hold the cylinder through road vibration. Tell us the vehicle type and extinguisher weight and we will confirm the right size.
