A cartridge operated Monnex powder extinguisher for heavy industrial flammable liquid and gas risks. A separate CO2 cartridge pressurises the body only when the unit is operated, which makes on site recharge and service straightforward.
Start with the fuel, not the size. Cooking oil and fat fires are Class F or K risks and need a wet chemical extinguisher, which cools the oil and forms a soapy layer on the surface. Burning metals such as magnesium or aluminium swarf are Class D fires and need a special powder like sodium chloride or ternary eutectic chloride (TEC) applied gently through an applicator. Ordinary ABC powder is not the right answer for either of these.
For flammable liquid and gas risks where fast knock down matters, Monnex powder (potassium bicarbonate urea complex) is used. It is a BC agent, effective on flammable liquids and pressurised gases, and is available in stored pressure and cartridge operated versions.
Stored pressure means the extinguisher body is already pressurised with nitrogen and a gauge shows the charge. Cartridge operated means a separate CO2 cartridge pressurises the unit when you operate it, which suits on the spot recharging and heavy industrial use. Fire ratings such as 15F, 55B and 183B tell you the size of test fire the unit passed: higher B or F figures mean a larger rated fire.
Count the risk points, not just the floor area. A kitchen usually needs a unit within easy reach of each cooking range, while a machine shop needs the Class D unit close to the lathe or grinder but far enough to avoid blocking access. Call FPS if you want a site survey in Bhopal or elsewhere in MP.
