BC powder here is sodium bicarbonate, a free flowing, water repellent and non abrasive dry chemical. Minimax lists it for flammable liquid (Class B) and flammable gas (Class C) fires, where it works by cooling and blanketing the fire. If the area also holds wood, paper or cloth, discuss an ABC powder unit with us instead.
Choose the operation type next. Stored pressure units (1, 2, 4, 6 and 9 kg) hold dry nitrogen inside the cylinder with the powder at 15 bar. Gas cartridge units (4, 6 and 9 kg) are recommended by Minimax for industrial use and severe, usually outdoor, conditions, and are quick and simple to refill after discharge. Mobile units (25, 50 and 75 kg) use an external CO2 cylinder and suit large risks.
Ratings rise with size: the 1 kg stored pressure unit is rated 34B, the 4 kg gas cartridge unit 89B and the mobile units 233B. The B figure reflects the size of the flammable liquid test fire the unit put out. FPS supplies, installs and refills all three types in Bhopal and across Madhya Pradesh.
