How to choose
All Minimax MMX hoses are 63 mm and come in 7.5, 15 and 30 m lengths, with instantaneous male and female couplings to IS:903 bound on with copper wire. An instantaneous coupling is a quick push fit connector: the male end locks into a female end without screwing. Couplings are offered in gunmetal (GM), stainless steel (SS) or aluminium (AL).
Minimax offers three non-percolating delivery hoses to IS:636, meaning water does not seep through the jacket. Type 1 is rubber lined inside a circular woven synthetic jacket. Type 2 is EPDM lined and coated outside with a synthetic elastomer, which protects the jacket against absorbing liquids and improves its resistance to abrasion and heat. Type 3 is NBR-PVC lined and covered outside, with very low absorption of oils, greases, acids and alkalis and high resistance to abrasion and direct heat; Minimax lists it as CE marked.
The controlled percolating (CP) hose to IS:8423 has a circular woven jacket with an inner rubber coating and lets a controlled amount of water through the jacket. For the Type 1 and CP hoses, Minimax lists a working pressure of 14 kgf/cm2, a proof pressure of 21.4 kgf/cm2 and a burst pressure of 35.7 kgf/cm2.
