A hydrant valve, also called a landing valve, is the outlet on a hydrant main where the fire hose is connected. Minimax makes single headed and double headed oblique types to IS:5290-1993, both ISI marked, with 63 mm female instantaneous outlets with lugs, hand wheel operation and a rising stem. The single headed valve (Type A) has an 80 mm flanged inlet and is flow tested at 900 LPM; the double headed valve (Type B) has a 100 mm flanged inlet and is flow tested at 1800 LPM, both at 7 kg/cm2.
Both valves are offered in gunmetal (GM), stainless steel (SS) or aluminium (AL), hydraulically tested at 21 kgf/sq.cm and checked for water tightness at 14 kgf/sq.cm, each for 150 seconds, and supplied with an ABS blank cap. Choose the double headed valve where two hose lines need to be run from one point.
A collecting breaching head is the fire brigade connection, through which fire service pumps can feed water into the system. The Minimax unit has 63 mm male instantaneous inlets to IS:903 with built-in check valves, a flanged outlet (4 inch NB on the 2-way version) and a gunmetal stop valve, in 2-way, 3-way and 4-way versions. The draw off connection has a gunmetal body, a 100 mm inlet and an 80 mm flat faced flanged outlet, hydraulically tested at 21 kgf/sq.cm for 150 seconds. FPS supplies, installs and tests all of these in Bhopal and across Madhya Pradesh.
