An alarm check valve sits at the base of a wet pipe sprinkler system, where the pipes are always full of water. It lets water pass into the system in one direction only and, when a sprinkler opens and water keeps flowing, it feeds the alarm line to sound an electric and/or hydraulic alarm. The Tyco AV-1-300 is a divided seat ring, rubber faced clapper valve rated 300 psi, in 2-1/2, 4, 6 and 8 inch (DN65, DN100, DN150 and DN200) sizes. Its trim includes pressure gauges, a bypass check valve that passes small, slow supply pressure rises without opening the clapper, a main drain valve and an alarm test valve. TFP910 is the edition Tyco lists as UL and C-UL Listed and FM Approved; TFP990 is the European Conformity trim edition, which Tyco lists as FM, VdS and LPCB Approved.
Where the supply pressure varies, as it often does on public mains, add the RC-1 retard chamber. A retard chamber is fitted in the alarm line and holds back brief surges so that short pressure rises do not sound the alarm; Tyco says the RC-1 is required for such installations and it is ordered separately. For a local alarm that needs no electricity, the WMA-1 water motor alarm is a water driven gong for an outside wall up to 450 mm thick; TFP922 is its European Conformity edition, rated 16 bar.
If a water motor alarm is not needed, the CV-1FR grooved end riser check valve, DN50 to DN300, can be used with a separately supplied flow switch instead of an alarm check valve. For floor or zone control, RM-2 riser manifolds put the flow switch, gauge, drain and test arrangement in one assembly, and the TD-2 test and drain valve adds a sight glass, test orifice and pressure relief. The pressure relief trim protects gridded wet systems from pressure build-up as the surroundings warm.
Sizes, pressure ratings and approvals differ from one data sheet to the next, so FPS checks the TFP number of each item against your system design before supply and installation in Bhopal and across Madhya Pradesh.
