FK-5-1-12 is the fluoroketone clean agent best known as 3M's Novec 1230, which 3M said it would stop making by the end of 2025. The agent is also made by other companies, and it is what Ceasefire, Honeywell, Kanex and Minimax (as Grenoz 1230) list for their systems. FK-5-1-12 is a liquid at room temperature that turns to gas as it leaves the nozzles. Honeywell lists it as clean, colourless, odourless and non-toxic, reaching extinguishing levels within 10 seconds, with zero ozone depletion potential and an atmospheric life of about five days.
It is electrically non conductive and leaves no residue, so it suits rooms full of electronics and records, and makers present it as safe for rooms where people work at its design concentration.
The name on the cylinder varies: 3M sold the agent as Novec 1230 and Minimax sells it as Grenoz 1230. What matters for a system is the agent it is listed for and who will supply refills, which we check before every quote.
Ceasefire releases FK-5-1-12 through a flexible piping network and wide range nozzles, reaching extinguishing levels in 10 seconds or less. Honeywell offers super pressurised systems at 25, 34.5 and 42 bar and the INFERNO SHIELD system for large, high risk spaces. Kanex designs engineered systems for FK-5-1-12 or HFC 227ea. For smaller rooms without a pipe network, Minimax FIRESPOT puts a 10 kg Grenoz 1230 cylinder on the ceiling, and Ceasefire Atom X and M Series units are mounted on the ceiling or wall.

Size by the room: the agent quantity comes from the room volume and the design concentration for the risk, and the room must hold the gas, so gaps in walls, raised floors and ducts are sealed or fitted with dampers.
Choose the pressure and layout: Honeywell offers 25, 34.5 and 42 bar, and the higher pressures carry the agent through longer runs of smaller pipe. For one small unmanned room, a single ceiling cylinder can be enough.
