How to choose

A horn gives an audible fire alarm, while a strobe adds a flashing light so the alarm is also seen. The MHR/1 is a red mini horn that mounts on a single gang box, with high and low volume settings and temporal or non-temporal tone patterns. It is mechanically and electrically compatible with the PA400 series Mini-Alert sounders, which helps when replacing older units.

The P2RLED is an L-Series horn strobe that uses LED lighting, which System Sensor states draws much less current than older xenon strobes. Lower current draw gives more room when designing the notification appliance circuits (NACs), the panel outputs that power horns and strobes. Candela, a measure of light intensity, is selectable in the field: 15, 30, 75, 95, 110, 135 and 185 on wall units, and 15, 30, 75, 95, 115, 150 and 177 on ceiling units.

For installation, the P2RLED uses a plug-in mounting plate with shorting springs to check wiring continuity before the device is fitted, rotary switches for candela, tone and volume, and test points for a digital voltage meter. It is electrically compatible with SpectrAlert, SpectrAlert Advance and earlier L-Series devices. Both models are rated for 0 to 49°C and 10 to 93% humidity, non-condensing.

FPS supplies, installs and maintains System Sensor sounders and horn strobes in Bhopal and across Madhya Pradesh.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a horn and a horn strobe?
A horn only gives an audible alarm. A horn strobe also flashes a light, so people who cannot hear the alarm, or are in a noisy area, can still see it.
What does candela mean on a strobe?
Candela is a measure of light intensity. On the System Sensor P2RLED it can be set in the field, from 15 up to 185 on wall units and from 15 up to 177 on ceiling units.
Can the P2RLED replace older System Sensor strobes?
System Sensor states that the P2RLED is electrically compatible with legacy SpectrAlert, SpectrAlert Advance and L-Series devices. Its LED lighting draws less current than older xenon strobes.
Which voltage does the MHR/1 mini horn use?
The MHR/1 supports 12 V and 24 V operation, and its 24 V nominal operating range is 16 to 33 V. It mounts on a single gang box and synchronises without extra modules.
Does FPS supply and install System Sensor sounders in Bhopal?
Yes. FPS is a System Sensor dealer and supplies, installs and maintains System Sensor sounders and horn strobes in Bhopal and across Madhya Pradesh. Prices are on request: call or WhatsApp +91 92440 89060.
