How to choose
A duct smoke detector draws a sample of air from an air conditioning or ventilation duct through a sampling tube and checks it for smoke, so smoke carried in the ductwork is picked up. All System Sensor models here are photoelectric InnovairFlex units with integrated low-flow technology and a plug-in sensor head, and they mount on round or rectangular ducts in a square or rectangular footprint.
Choose by the fire alarm system. The D2E is a conventional 2-wire detector fitted with a Series 300 conventional detector base and powered at 8.5 to 35 VDC. The DNRE is an intelligent, non-relay addressable detector fitted with a Series 200 base for addressable loops. The D2 is a 2-wire photoelectric detector rated for air speeds of 100 to 4,000 ft/min (0.5 to 20.32 m/sec). The D4120 is a 4-wire detector for 120 VAC, with a Test/Reset button and a patented interconnect feature for multi-fan shutdown.
Then choose the sampling tube. The DST tubes are ordered separately and must match the duct width: DST1 up to 0.3 m, DST1.5 for 0.3 to 0.6 m, DST3 for 0.6 to 1.2 m, DST5 for 1.2 to 2.4 m and DST10 for 2.4 to 3.7 m. The tube should reach at least 5/8 of the way across the duct and is always fitted with the air inlet holes facing into the airflow.
