A butterfly valve shuts off flow with a disc that turns a quarter turn on its stem. The wafer type body is clamped between two pipe flanges, which keeps the valve short and light. All Zoloto butterfly valves here have an SG iron body (spheroidal graphite iron, also called ductile iron), are designed to IS 13095 / BS EN 593 (BS 5155), and use an integrally moulded rubber lining that seats the disc, seals the stem and acts as the gasket against the pipe flanges. The lining is chosen to suit the service: EPDM or nitrile, with neoprene, Viton and silicone also listed.
Choose the pressure rating first. PN is the nominal pressure class: PN 1.0 means a maximum working pressure of 1.0 MPa, PN 1.6 means 1.6 MPa (the class often written PN 16) and PN 2.5 means 2.5 MPa. Then choose the disc: SG iron, or stainless steel CF8 (the cast form of SS 304), with CF8M also listed. The manual valves are made to sandwich between a wide range of flanges, including BS 10 Tables D, E, F and H, DIN, PN 10 to PN 40, ASA 150 and 300, IS 778, IS 6392 Table 17 and IS 1538.
Then choose the operator. Lever operated valves cover 40 mm to 150 mm, and gear operated valves start at 200 mm and go up to 600 mm in the 1078A. For automation, the 1078D has a double acting pneumatic actuator with a scotch yoke mechanism, and the 1078F (PN 1.0, up to 350 mm) and 1078K (PN 1.6, up to 300 mm) have electrical actuators that work with a BMS or PLC and report their position through micro switches.
The PN 1.6 models 1078, 1078A, 1078B and 1078C are listed with the ISI mark. For the 1078A, the maker notes that sizes above 300 mm are not ISI marked and sizes above 400 mm come in PN 1.0 only. None of these valves is listed as UL or FM approved. FPS supplies, installs and services Zoloto butterfly valves in Bhopal and across Madhya Pradesh.
