How to choose
In a globe valve the flow turns through the body and passes a disc that screws down onto a seat, so the valve can be left part open to regulate flow as well as shut tight. That makes it the usual choice where flow needs adjusting, while a gate valve suits lines that are only opened or shut. All the Zoloto globe valves here are bronze, with a screwed in bonnet, inside screw, rising stem, integral seat, sheet metal handwheel and PTFE gland packing.
Choose the pattern and the ends. The 1001, 1001A and 1003 are medium pattern and the 1002 (No.5) is heavy pattern. The 1001A (No.4) is an angle valve, with inlet and outlet at right angles. Screwed valves have female threads to IS 554 / BS 21 / ISO 7; the 1003 (No.8) is flanged to BS 10 Table D and the 1034 is flanged to IS 778.
Check the standard and temperature. The 1033 and 1034 are made to IS 778 Class 1, carry the ISI mark and list a 45°C maximum working temperature, while the 1001, 1001A, 1002 and 1003 list 225°C.
