First decide the powder grade. MAP stands for mono ammonium phosphate, and the number is its percentage in the powder: MAP 90 carries 90% and MAP 50 carries 50%, and Kanex also lists MAP 40 on its 1 kg RQ unit. The higher grade is listed at a higher rating for the same weight: Minimax rates its 4 kg gas cartridge unit 3A:55B with MAP 50 and 3A:89B with MAP 90, and Kanex rates its 1 kg stored pressure units 1A:21B with MAP 40 and 1A:34B with MAP 90. Where a listing names ABC powder without a grade, as on the Balaji Fire Safety units, FPS confirms the grade before supply.
Next choose stored pressure or cartridge operation. Stored pressure units keep nitrogen in the cylinder with the powder and a pressure gauge shows the charge, which suits offices, corridors and homes; Balaji Fire Safety, for example, lists nitrogen as the driving gas and a discharge time of 8 sec on its 4 kg and 6 kg units. Cartridge units from Ceasefire (4 kg to 12 kg), Kanex and Minimax (4, 6 and 9 kg) keep the propellant gas in a separate cartridge that pressurises the body only when used, so they can be refilled on site, which suits factories and outdoor areas.
Then match size to the risk. For homes and cars, Ceasefire offers 500 g and 1 kg units with a thumb trigger and Minimax the compact Minimax+ in 1 and 2 kg. Portable units run from 1 kg to 9 kg across brands, including Balaji Fire Safety mild steel units in 1, 2, 4, 6 and 9 kg, with 12 kg from Ceasefire. For fuel handling, storage yards and large open risks, trolley units of 25, 50 and 75 kg from Ceasefire, Kanex and Minimax are rated 20A:233B, Balaji Fire Safety lists 25 kg and 50 kg trolleys, and Ceasefire also lists 100 kg in its EN 1866 range. Stainless steel bodies from Ceasefire, Kanex, Minimax and Savemax suit display areas and coastal or high salinity sites.
Finally check approvals for your NOC or tender. Ceasefire BIS models are certified to IS 15683 and its trolleys to IS 16018, with an EN approved range carrying LPCB, BSI Kitemark and PED marks. Kanex portables are BIS approved to IS 15683:2006 and its trolleys conform to IS 16018:2012, with a UL 299 listed range in 2.5, 10 and 20 lbs; Minimax units are ISI marked; Savemax units are made to IS 2171 : 2024, ISI marked and CPWD approved; and Balaji Fire Safety lists its 4 kg portable and 25 kg stored pressure trolley as ISI to IS 15683.
