Start with the agent. All three are clean agents that leave no residue and are safe on sensitive electronic equipment, so they are chosen where powder would cause corrosion or clean up problems. Fluoroketone (FK-5-1-12) has zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) and is not classified under the F-Gas Regulations, and Ceasefire describes its FK portables as a low pressure design that does not displace oxygen in the fire zone. HFC 227ea and HFC 236fa are hydrofluorocarbon agents offered in the same 2, 4 and 6 kg sizes.
Then pick the approval. The FK, HFC 227ea and HFC 236fa portables are made to IS 15683 and BIS certified, with a 1A, 21B rating on the 2 kg size and a 10 year warranty. The EN approved range in 2 to 9 kg, with HFC 236fa or FK, carries European marks including LPCB, BSI Kitemark, PED and CE and has a 5 year warranty. A rating such as 1A, 21B tells you the size of the wood (A) and flammable liquid (B) test fires the unit put out.
For homes and vehicles, the compact FK units in 500 g and 1 kg are thumb triggered and PED certified. On the portable ranges the pressure gauge can be checked on site with a special magnet, which makes routine inspection simple.
