Match the extinguisher to the fire class. Class F means fires in cooking oils and fats, and the wet chemical models are made for them: the foaming agent blankets the flames, cuts off oxygen and cools the oil below its self ignition point, which reduces the risk of re-ignition. Class D means burning metals. SPM Pyro is for heavy metals such as titanium, lead, zinc and copper, and SPM Tec, a powder based on sodium, potassium and barium chlorides, is for light metals such as magnesium, lithium, sodium and potassium. Ceasefire notes that burning metals can react violently with water, so a dedicated Class D agent is needed.
For flammable liquids such as petrol, diesel and solvents, B Plus powder breaks into fine particles on discharge and covers a larger surface; the 1 kg BIS unit is rated 34B and the 2 kg EN approved unit 89B. MultiMax uses one agent, CF Green, for Class A, B, C, F, electrical and lithium battery fires, which suits homes and mixed use sites; the 3 ltr portable is rated 2A, 55B, 25F. For large scale risks, the MultiMax high impact 9 ltr backpack and 45 ltr trolley run on external compressed air cartridges and use compressed air foam (CAF), switching between jet and spray at the gun.
Finally choose the approval. The BIS models are made to IS 15683, while the EN approved B Plus and wet chemical models carry LPCB, BSI Kitemark, PED and MED marks for sites that follow European specifications. Warranties run from 1 year on the MultiMax high impact units to 10 years on the BIS B Plus and SPM models. FPS supplies, installs, refills and services all of these in Bhopal and across Madhya Pradesh.
