First choose the system type. A conventional panel divides the building into zones and shows which zone is in alarm; Ceasefire's conventional panels run from 2 to 32 zones and are approved to EN 54-2 and 4. An addressable panel gives every detector and device its own address, so the panel shows the exact device in alarm. The Intelli-Sense addressable panels take up to 240 devices per loop, from 1 loop up to 8 loops, and network up to 2000 zones. A loop is the cable circuit that runs from the panel through all the devices and back.
Then pick the field devices. Multi-criteria detectors combine smoke and heat sensing, heat detectors respond to temperature instead of smoke, manual call points let people raise the alarm by hand, and sounders, beacons and base sounders give the warning. Detectors with a built-in isolator, or separate isolator modules, keep the rest of the loop working if the cable is shorted, and input, output and relay modules let the panel monitor contacts or switch other equipment.
Where cabling is difficult, Wave-Sense wireless devices join an addressable loop through a translator module, with expanders for more reach; each expander handles 32 wireless devices, and field devices reach up to 150 m in open space. For larger sites, network cards, remote terminals, graphic software, IP gateways and a BMS interface let you view and control the system from other buildings or a PC.
