Siemens FDL242 Cerberus PRO Linear Smoke Detector (Beam)
An addressable linear smoke detector with the infrared emitter and receiver in one unit, working with a prism reflector on the opposite side of the room.
Fire Protection System (FPS), a Siemens dealer in Bhopal, supplies the Siemens FDL242 linear (beam) smoke detector from the Cerberus PRO range, an addressable detector for FDnet and C-NET detector lines. FPS installs, aligns and maintains it across Madhya Pradesh.
An addressable linear smoke detector with the infrared emitter and receiver in one unit, working with a prism reflector on the opposite side of the room.
A linear smoke detector watches a whole line across a room with one beam of infrared light. In the Siemens FDL242 the light emitter and the receiver sit in the same housing: the beam travels to a prism-shaped reflector on the far side and back again. Smoke in the beam path weakens the returned signal, and when the loss reaches the set measuring values the detector reports the danger level to the control panel.
The FDL242 is addressable: it sits on an FDnet or C-NET detector line, the addressable line that both powers the devices and carries their messages (DC 12 to 33 V, 3.7 mA). It also measures distance so that it can recognise a foreign object in the beam path, and its built-in alarm indicator shows the alarm status on the spot.
Siemens offers different reflectors for different distances, so the reflector is matched to the span between the detector and the opposite wall. Siemens lists EN 54-12, EN 54-17, VdS and UKCA for this detector. EN 54-12 is the part of the European EN 54 standard for line type smoke detectors that use an optical beam. Share your room size with FPS and confirm the exact part numbers before ordering.
