How to choose

In the Bosch Wireless Fire Detection System, detectors and call points talk by radio to an FWI-270 radio gateway instead of being wired back. The area the gateway serves is called a radio cell, and each device can be mounted anywhere inside it. The gateway handles up to 30 radio devices and uses multihop mesh technology: messages travel over at least two independent paths and can pass through up to two intermediate stations, which extends the range.

Every device runs on a BAT3.6-10 lithium battery pack (3.6V, 10 Ah) that is ordered separately; Bosch gives a typical battery life of 3 years for the call points. The FDOOT271-O radio fire detector also needs the FDB271 base, and the FDME273-O call point needs the FDMH273-R housing, both ordered separately.

For manual call points, choose by how the alarm is raised. On the FDM275-O the alarm is triggered directly by pressing the plastic insert and reset with a key. On the FDME273-O the user smashes the glass insert and then presses the alarm button, which is an indirect activation. FPS supplies, installs and maintains Bosch wireless devices in Bhopal and across Madhya Pradesh; confirm the exact part numbers with FPS before ordering.

Frequently asked questions

How many devices can one Bosch FWI-270 gateway handle?
Bosch states that the FWI-270 radio gateway handles up to 30 radio devices. Larger sites need more than one gateway, and FPS can plan the layout for you.
What powers the Bosch radio detectors and call points?
Each device uses a BAT3.6-10 lithium battery pack, 3.6V and 10 Ah, which is ordered separately. Bosch gives a typical battery life of 3 years for the radio call points.
What does multihop mesh mean?
Radio messages can be passed on by other devices instead of going straight to the gateway. On the FWI-270 each message uses at least two communication paths and can pass through up to two intermediate stations.
Which radio frequencies do these devices use?
Bosch lists 868 to 870 MHz for the radio call points. The FDOOT271-O detector lists 27 channels in the 868 MHz band and 20 channels in the 433 MHz band.
