A linear beam smoke detector sends a light beam across a large space and raises an alarm when smoke weakens the beam, so one device can protect an area that would otherwise need many point detectors on a high ceiling. Bosch offers two layouts. In a reflective detector the transmitter and receiver sit in one housing and the beam returns from a reflector or prism on the opposite wall, so only one powered unit is installed. In an end-to-end detector such as the Fireray3000, the transmitter and receiver are mounted at opposite ends.
Match the model to the distance. The Fireray 50RV covers 5 to 50 m and the Fireray 100RV covers 50 to 100 m, both conventional reflective detectors. The Fireray5000-EN covers 8 to 50 m with one prism and 50 to 100 m with four prisms from the long range kit, and Bosch states it complies with EN 54-12, the European standard for line type smoke detectors. The Fireray3000 covers 5 to 120 m end to end, and the FRAY-ONE-EN covers 5 to 50 m with one prism and up to 120 m with four prisms.
Then look at alignment and control. The Fireray3000 and Fireray5000-EN have integral laser alignment, self-alignment during operation and a control unit mounted at eye level that can handle up to two detectors, each with its own fire and fault relays. The FRAY-ONE-EN is a standalone unit with its control built in, a motorised head for auto-alignment, light cancellation and building movement tracking. FPS supplies, installs, aligns and maintains Bosch beam detectors in Bhopal and across Madhya Pradesh; confirm the exact model and any prism kits with FPS.
