A detector base is the part fixed to the ceiling and wired to the fire alarm system; the detector head fits into it, so the head can be taken out for testing or replacement without disturbing the wiring. Start by matching the base to the detector. In Bosch's catalog the MS 400 and MS 400 B are listed as bases for AVENAR detector 4000 and FCP-320 detectors, the FAA-MSR420 relay base for AVENAR detector 4000, the FAA-500 and FAA-500-R for FAP-520 detectors, and the FDB201 for the OOH740-A9-Ex dual-optical detector.
The MS 400 is the standard base: it takes surface or flush cable entry, has separate fixing points for ceiling and flush back boxes, seven terminal screws and a lock that stops the detector head being removed without permission. The MS 400 B is the same base with a Bosch logo. Choose a relay base when the detector point must switch something locally: the FAA-MSR420 has a change-over (Form C) relay, and the FAA-500-R is the relay version of the FAA-500, used for example for emergency door control under DIBt rules.
For hazardous areas, the FDB201 holds the OOH740-A9-Ex with a snap fastener and accepts recessed or surface supply wiring with cables up to 6 mm in diameter. Confirm the exact part number with FPS before ordering; FPS supplies, installs and maintains Bosch bases in Bhopal and across Madhya Pradesh.
