Apollo XP95 Flame Detector (IR3)
A loop powered addressable flame detector for areas where open flaming fires may be expected, sensing the low frequency flicker of infra-red radiation from flames. It works with the Discovery and XP95 protocols.
Fire Protection System (FPS) is an authorised Apollo distributor in Bhopal, supplying Apollo IR2, IR3, UV and UV/IR2 flame detectors for addressable XP95 and Discovery loops and for conventional panels, including flameproof Exd models for hazardous areas. The family also includes a duct detector housing that checks the air moving through HVAC ducts for smoke.
A loop powered addressable flame detector for areas where open flaming fires may be expected, sensing the low frequency flicker of infra-red radiation from flames. It works with the Discovery and XP95 protocols.
An addressable flame detector with two sensors reading different IR wavelengths, so it can tell flames from other sources of radiation. It has a 90° field of view and covers up to 40 m.
A flameproof version of the XP95 IR3 flame detector for hazardous areas, sensing the flicker of infra-red radiation from open flaming fires. It is loop powered and works with the Discovery and XP95 protocols.
A compact UV flame detector that fits into a Discovery or XP95 base, for enclosed indoor areas where open fires may be expected. Its single UV sensor with a narrow spectral response reacts quickly to flames up to 25 m away, including steady flames with no flicker.
A base mounted flame detector with one UV and two IR sensors, for open indoor areas such as aircraft hangars, generator rooms and paint works where open flaming fires may be expected. It fits into a Discovery or XP95 base.
A conventional flame detector for harsh indoor environments, with three sensors reading different IR wavelengths to separate flames from spurious radiation. It meets EN 54-10 Class 1, detecting a 0.1 m2 fire at 25 m.
A conventional flame detector that combines UV and IR2 sensing with signal processing, designed to avoid false alarms in difficult situations such as flickering blackbody radiation or arc welding.
A flameproof IR3 flame detector for hazardous indoor and outdoor areas, sensing the low frequency flicker of infra-red radiation from flames even through oil, dust, water vapour or ice. BASEEFA has certified it to EN 60079-0, EN 60079-1 and EN 61241-1.
A housing that holds an XP95 or Discovery detector to check the air moving through heating and ventilation (HVAC) ducts in commercial and industrial buildings. It gives early warning of smoke in the duct and helps stop smoke being circulated from a fire area to unaffected areas.
Flame detectors watch for the radiation a flame gives off instead of waiting for smoke or heat to reach a ceiling, so they suit areas where open flaming fires are expected. IR types read the flicker of infra-red radiation from flames; the IR2 and IR3 models compare two or three IR wavelengths to tell a real flame from other sources. UV types sense ultraviolet radiation and respond even to steady flames with no flicker, and UV/IR2 models combine both to cut false alarms from lightning, arc welding and flickering sunlight.
Next, match the panel. The XP95 flame detectors are loop powered and work with the XP95 and Discovery protocols, and the UV and UV/IR2 versions are compact enough to fit straight into a Discovery or XP95 detector base. For conventional panels, the Conventional IR3 and UV/IR2 detectors are listed with Class 1 sensitivity to EN 54-10, detecting a 0.1 m2 fire at 25 m, plus selectable response speed and optical self test. EN 54-10 is the European standard for flame detectors.
For hazardous areas, choose a flameproof Exd model, whose enclosure is built to contain any ignition inside it. The XP95 Exd IR3 carries BASEEFA and IECEx approvals, and the Conventional Exd IR3 is ATEX and IECEx certified for Zones 1, 21, 2 and 22, with outputs selectable from conventional two-wire, 4 to 20 mA and relay contacts. Zones 1 and 2 cover explosive gas atmospheres, Zones 21 and 22 explosive dust.
Check coverage and conditions too: the XP95 IR2 has a 90° field of view and covers up to 40 m, and the base mounted UV detector responds to flames up to 25 m away. The base mounted UV and UV/IR2 types are rated -40 to 70°C, while the XP95 IR2, IR3 and Exd IR3 and the Conventional IR3 are rated -10 to 55°C. For air handling systems, the Duct Detector Housing holds an XP95 or Discovery detector to sample duct air. FPS supplies, installs and maintains Apollo flame and duct detection in Bhopal and across Madhya Pradesh.
