An addressable detector has its own address on the panel's loop, so the panel shows exactly which detector is in alarm instead of only the zone. First match the detector to the panel. The RE 317D detectors are for Ravel's multi loop system and are addressed from 1 to 254 with an 8 way DIP switch. The RE-337 detectors are for the single loop MonitI panel and are soft addressed, so no switches need to be set by hand.
Next choose what to sense. A photoelectric smoke detector senses smoke optically and suits most rooms, corridors and offices. A heat detector suits places where smoke or steam is normal, such as kitchens; Ravel's heat and multi sensor models alarm at a fixed 59 °C or when the temperature rises by 11.1 °C per minute. A multi sensor detector has both a smoke sensor and a heat sensor in one head.
All six detectors run on 17 to 28 V DC, are polarity insensitive, have dual LEDs visible through 360° and a low profile housing on a regular 100 mm base, and are rated IP42. An isolator base (RE-314BI for RE 317D, RE-374BI for RE-337) keeps a wiring short from affecting the whole loop.
