How to choose
Notifier's 951 detectors are intelligent and addressable: each has its own address, set with rotary switches, so the panel shows the exact detector in alarm. Their sensitivity can be programmed from the panel and is continually monitored and reported to it. Choose the sensing type first. The FSP-951 is a photoelectric smoke detector; the FSP-951T adds 135°F (57°C) fixed heat sensing. The FST-951 heat detectors come as fixed 135°F (57°C), rate-of-rise 15°F (8.3°C) per minute (FST-951R) and high temperature 190°F (88°C) (FST-951H).
Multi-criteria detectors combine several sensing principles in one head. The FPTI-951 uses photoelectric, thermal and infrared sensing, and the FCO-951 adds carbon monoxide to all three. The FPC-951 combines smoke and CO and meets UL 268 7th edition and UL 2075, while the FSCO-951 is a CO-only detector to UL 2075. Notifier states that the FCO-951 gives heightened immunity to nuisance particles, and the CO models have a 10-year CO cell with an end-of-life warning.
