Sant Valves Strainers in Bhopal

Fire Protection System, an authorised Sant Valves distributor in Bhopal, supplies Sant Y-type and T-type strainers in forged brass, cast iron and cast steel, from 15 mm to 300 mm. Each has a stainless steel screen that catches dirt and debris before it reaches pumps, valves and equipment.

Where to use Strainers

  • Inlet lines of water pumps, to keep debris out
  • Ahead of pressure reducing valves, control valves and meters
  • Before process equipment that needs clean water
  • Building water supply lines (screwed brass and cast iron strainers)
  • Large bore water mains (flanged CI-16B up to 300 mm)
  • High temperature lines up to 400°C (CS-3A cast steel)
  • Industrial pipework with Class-150 flanges (CS-3A, CI-19)

How to choose

A strainer is a body with a perforated screen inside that lets water through and holds back solids. In a Y-type strainer the screen sits in an angled leg of the body and is removed through a cover. In a T-type (Tee) strainer the screen is taken out from the top after removing the bolted bonnet. Sant's cast iron and cast steel strainers use SS 304 screens with 1.2 mm perforations, and the BF brass strainer uses a stainless steel AISI-304 filter.

Choose the body and ends for the line. For small screwed lines there is the BF forged brass strainer (15 mm to 50 mm, working pressure 1.6 MPa) and the CI-16 cast iron Y strainer with BSP threads to BS 21 (15 mm to 50 mm, up to 225°C). For flanged water mains, the CI-16B is a PN16 cast iron Y strainer from 25 mm to 300 mm with BS 10 Table F flanges. The CI-19 is a flanged cast iron T strainer from 50 mm to 200 mm.

For higher pressure or temperature, the CS-3A cast steel (WCB) Y strainer has a maximum working pressure of 20 kg/cm² and a maximum temperature of 400°C, with flanges to BS10 Table F or Class-150. Plan access to open the cover and clean the screen during maintenance. Where a UL Listed strainer is needed on fire water pipework, Sant's V4 and V8 are in its UL/FM range. FPS supplies and installs Sant strainers in Bhopal and across Madhya Pradesh.

Frequently asked questions

What does a Y strainer do?
It traps sand, scale and other solids in a stainless steel screen so they do not reach pumps, valves or meters downstream. The screen is taken out through the cover for cleaning.
Should I choose a Y-type or T-type strainer?
Y strainers are compact and fit in screwed or flanged lines of most sizes. Sant's CI-19 T strainer has a bolted bonnet on top, so its screen is lifted straight out for cleaning.
What screen do Sant strainers use?
The cast iron and cast steel models use SS 304 screens with 1.2 mm perforations, and the BF brass strainer has a stainless steel AISI-304 filter.
Does Sant make UL Listed strainers?
Yes. The V4 flanged and V8 grooved Y-type strainers are UL Listed and appear in Sant's UL Listed and FM Approved range. The strainers on this page are not listed as UL or FM approved in the maker's data.
How do I get a price for Sant strainers?
Prices depend on model, size and quantity and are shared on request. Call or WhatsApp +91 92440 89060 and FPS will quote for supply or supply with installation across MP.
