Where a 9 kg ABC fire extinguisher is used

How to choose

At 9 kg most MAP 90 and Ceasefire units are rated 6A 233B under IS 15683; the Kanex RQ MAP 50 units are rated 6A 183B and Minimax lists 6A 144B with MAP 50 and 6A 233B with MAP 90.

For a factory floor, cartridge units (Ceasefire 4 to 12 kg, Kanex and Minimax 4 to 9 kg) can be refilled on site after use. Where a 9 kg unit is too heavy for the people who will use it, two 6 kg units may serve better; for large open risks, see the trolley units.

9 kg ABC or a trolley unit?
A 9 kg unit is carried by one person; a trolley unit of 25 kg or more is wheeled and carries much more powder, with a rating of 20A 233B under IS 16018 for most models here. Large factories, fuel and chemical stores usually have both: 9 kg units on the walls and trolley units at key points.
