EXCELLENCE IN FIRE EXTINGUISHER, FIRE HYDRANT, FIRE ALARM & FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS

Fire Extinguisher for Electrical Fire in Bhopal

An electrical fire needs an agent that does not conduct electricity and leaves no residue on the equipment: CO2 or a clean agent. For fires inside panels, racks and unmanned rooms, automatic tube, rack and room systems put the fire out at the source. FPS supplies and installs both, from Ceasefire, Kanex, Minimax, Savemax, HD Fire and Honeywell, in Bhopal and across Madhya Pradesh.

Why an electrical fire needs a different extinguisher

An electrical fire starts where current meets resistance: a loose joint, an overloaded cable, a failing breaker or a hot battery. While the supply is on, the agent must not conduct electricity, and once the fire is out it should not leave anything that damages the equipment it was meant to save.

CO2 and clean agents meet both needs: they do not conduct, and they leave no residue. ABC powder also puts out electrical fires, but its fine dust settles inside panels and electronics and is hard to clean out, so keep it for general areas. Water and ordinary foam conduct electricity and must not be used on live equipment, unless the maker lists the unit for it: Ceasefire lists several of its water mist and wet chemical units for live equipment up to 1000 V from 1 metre.

Many electrical fires start inside a closed panel or an unmanned room, at night or on a holiday, with no one there to use an extinguisher. That is what automatic tube, rack and room systems are for: they detect the fire and put it out on their own.

Portable extinguishers for electrical fires: CO2 and clean agent

CO2 puts the fire out by pushing away the oxygen and leaves nothing behind, which is why it is the usual choice beside electrical panels, in electrical rooms and near DG sets. Clean agent extinguishers do the same job with a gas that is safe for electronics and lighter to handle, so they suit server rooms, control rooms, labs and offices full of computers.

Automatic suppression inside electrical panels

Most panel fires start inside a closed cabinet, where nobody sees them in time. A tube system runs a heat sensing tube through the panel. In a direct system the tube bursts at the hottest point, at about 150 to 180 C on the Ceasefire tube, and discharges the agent right there; in an indirect system the tube opens a valve to nozzles, for larger enclosures. They need no power supply.

Ceasefire offers direct and indirect in-panel systems with CO2, HFC 227ea, HFC 236fa, Fluoroketone and ABC MAP 90, and small Mini units for fuse boxes and enclosures. Kanex offers direct and indirect tube systems with clean agent or CO2, Honeywell ECS cabinet kits with FK-5-1-12 from 1.13 kg to 6.35 kg, Minimax FIRESPOT panel protection with Grenoz 1230 in 2 and 4 kg, and Savemax and HD Fire panel and in-cabinet systems.

Server racks and network cabinets

For a single rack, a rack unit sits inside it with its own smoke detectors and agent. The Ceasefire SQRS packs two photoelectric smoke detectors, the controls, an HFC 227ea cylinder and an alarm into the rack and reaches extinguishing levels in 10 seconds or less, with an optional IP module for alerts on a phone. The Honeywell rack mount unit covers racks of 1.5 to 3 cubic metres with cross zoned smoke detection.

Server rooms, UPS rooms and data centres

A whole room is protected by a total flooding system: detectors and a release panel fill the room with clean agent or inert gas to a set concentration within seconds, without harming the equipment. We design, supply and install systems with FK-5-1-12, HFC 227ea and inert gas from Ceasefire, Honeywell, Kanex and HD Fire, the Kanex room protection system, and Minimax FIRESPOT for small unmanned server, UPS, battery and record rooms.

Smaller rooms can be covered without a pipe network: Ceasefire Atom X ceiling units, or automatic modular extinguishers of 5 and 10 kg.

Transformers and DG sets

Transformers and generator rooms hold oil and fuel as well as live equipment, so they need more agent and protection that works without power. Ceasefire Auto-Quell watermist systems are made for them, discharging droplets below 120 microns around a transformer and below 70 microns in generator areas within seconds of detecting a fire. A CO2 trolley extinguisher gives the operator the first response.

How to choose

Start with where the fire would start. Open electrical rooms and DB boards need a portable CO2 or clean agent extinguisher within reach; closed panels, racks and unmanned rooms need an automatic system that acts on its own.

Then think about what the agent leaves behind. CO2 and clean agents leave no residue, so the equipment can be cleaned and restarted once the cause is fixed. Powder protects too, but leaves a fine dust in contacts and electronics.

Size the system to the space: panels and racks by their volume, rooms by their volume and the design concentration of the agent. We survey the site, size the system, install it and maintain it under an AMC, and our electrical safety audit finds the overheating joints and overloaded circuits that often start electrical fires.

Frequently asked questions

Which fire extinguisher is used for an electrical fire?
A CO2 or clean agent extinguisher. Both are non conductive and leave no residue. An ABC powder extinguisher also works but leaves powder in the equipment. Never use water or a foam extinguisher on live electrical equipment unless its maker lists it for that use.
Can a CO2 extinguisher be used on an electrical panel?
Yes, that is what it is made for. Switch off the supply if you safely can, keep the distance the maker gives on the label, and do not hold the discharge horn with a bare hand, as it gets very cold. See the 2 kg CO2 fire extinguishers compared.
What is the best fire protection for a server room?
A clean agent total flooding system for the room, with clean agent extinguishers at the door for a first response. A single rack can have its own rack unit. We design and install both in Bhopal and across Madhya Pradesh.
What is an in-panel tube suppression system?
A heat sensing tube runs through the panel. When a fire heats it, the tube bursts and releases CO2 or clean agent right at the fire, or opens a valve to nozzles. It needs no power and works with nobody present.
Which extinguisher is right for a UPS or battery room?
CO2 or clean agent for the electrical side. For lithium-ion batteries add a lithium-ion battery fire extinguisher, and for large battery rooms, early off-gas detection such as Honeywell Li-ion Tamer.
Do you refill CO2 and clean agent extinguishers?
Yes. We refill, weigh and test CO2 and clean agent extinguishers of every brand in Bhopal, see fire extinguisher refilling.
How do I get a price?
Prices depend on the agent, the size or the area to protect, so we quote each order. Send the details on WhatsApp at +91 92440 89060, or ask for a free site visit in Bhopal.
