Most accessories belong to one panel family, so start with the make and model of your panel. Bosch AVENAR panels take plug-in modules: LSN loop modules (300 mA or 1500 mA), a 4 zone conventional module, a 2 line notification module, input/output, relay, RS232 and annunciator modules, and battery controllers. Notifier NFS2-640 and NFS2-3030 panels gain loops with the LCM-320 and LEM-320, Morley by Honeywell DXc and ZXSe panels take network, RS232 and RS485 cards, a Bluetooth dongle and a USB upload lead, and Ceasefire Intelli-Sense panels join a network through standard or fault tolerant network cards. Where sounders and accessories need more power than the panel gives, add an external supply with battery charger: Ravel 24 V DC units of 2 A or 5 A, the Bosch FPP-3000 (5.0 A), the Honeywell HPF24S6E (6 amp, which also expands notification circuits) or the Notifier ACPS-610(E) and AMPS-24/E.
For a networked or remotely watched system, pick the link to suit the distance and the receiving system. Notifier High-Speed NOTI-FIRE-NET modules connect panels over twisted-pair wire, multi-mode or single-mode fibre, or join two media; the Morley by Honeywell ZXSe Hi-485 module builds network loops up to 12 km; and the Ceasefire fault tolerant network card supports 200 panels with up to 1.5 km between panels. To feed a BMS, Ravel converters give Modbus over RS232, RS485 or TCP/IP, the Morley Max E-SIB-M licence adds Modbus/TCP, and the Honeywell CLSS gateway links NOTI-FIRE-NET panels to Modbus/TCP or BACnet/IP. For a PC in a control room, each family has its own graphic or monitoring software: Notifier ONYXWorks, Morley by Honeywell TG and AMX, Ceasefire Intelli-Sense graphic control software, and Ravel Avani Soft, Avani CMS and Soft Connect.
For detectors hidden above false ceilings, in ducts or in locked rooms, fit a remote or response indicator at a visible point: the Agni, Apollo MiniDisc, Bosch FAA-420 (DIN 14623), Honeywell RI/007C, Ravel RE-RI and Siemens FDAI92 and FDAI93 indicators connect to the detector they serve, while the Siemens FDCAI221 takes its own loop address. Mounting parts include the Apollo ceiling tile box (127 mm hole, tiles up to 25 mm), the IP67 Apollo DIN-rail enclosure, the System Sensor M200E-SMB box for modules, System Sensor beam detector kits (surface, multi-mount and long-range for 70 to 100 m) and the Apollo stainless steel flame detector bracket. Apollo hinged covers guard call points against accidental operation, and the Ceasefire Instalert sounds 85 dB at 1 m if a fire extinguisher is moved.
For commissioning and maintenance, match test tools to the detectors on site. Smoke detectors are tested in place with the Bosch SOLO330 dispenser and smoke aerosol, heat detectors with the battery powered SOLO461, multisensors with a C sensor using FME-TEST-CO gas, and flame detectors with the Apollo Talentum test torch from 1 m to 6 m. Programming and line tools are system specific: the Agni FYRLAAST handheld programmer, the Apollo Intelligent Test Set for XP95, Discovery and CoreProtocol devices, the Siemens FDUL221 and FDUL2901 line testers and FDUD2912 detector tester, and the System Sensor S300PTU for Series 300 detectors. The Bosch SOLO200 removes and refits most detectors, and System Sensor RTS151 remote test stations let duct smoke detectors be tested from a convenient location.
